Get Involved

There are a number of ways that you can get involved in Colchester Carnival. If you’d like to be a part of the event, please see the below areas and get in touch.

Take part in the procession

The procession is the main event of Colchester Carnival – join up to 1,000 performers from 60 organisations in a parade over a mile long! This year’s theme is “Heroes and (not so nasty) Villains” so you can use your wildest imagination to dress up or perform as your favourite characters from history, literature, film or any cultural references you can dream up. The procession is free to enter for individuals and arts organisations. Businesses using the carnival for promotional reasons pay a small fee, but all profits go back to the Colchester community.

How to enter

Colchester Carnival is a fantastic community event attended by thousands of local residents which makes it a great opportunity for local business to get involved and raise their profile.

With the involvement of Colchester Gazette and Colchester Radio Station Dream 100 these organisations will act to produce a number of positive news stories to promote the event in the run up to July.

A campaign designed to create a buzz in Colchester for the Carnival will run from the beginning of March this will include the website, social media posts, carnival programmes distrusted to local schools and businesses in advance of the event and on the day, promotion of the carnival in town centre locations.
